Mon, 28 July 2008 It occurred to me that many of you may not be aware that, for the last six years, I've written a blog that can be accessed at http://ragan.livejournal.com/
The blog has various security levels that allow access based on degree of trust. People I know in real life have access to all my rants. Mutual friends on Live Journal have access to roughly 85% of my content. To become a mutual friend, simply friend me and send me a comment on LJ. I make around 5% of my entries available to the general public; you don't have to be a member of LJ to read these entries. Note: You do not have to pay to be a member of Live Journal. Fri, 18 July 2008 Hey, Kids,
It's time to stop the show and move to greener pastures. You've got one week to download your favorite shows. I'm canceling my libsyn account, so download your faves.
It's been a fun ride. I'll be back to art in another form soon. I may even make a brief return to podcasting when my second book comes out.
Thank you all for your love and support.
Best,

Sun, 3 June 2007 Hey Kids,
For the next month or so, new shows will be posted on Wednesdays. I'm altering output to coincide with Famecast voting. FYI, round two of Famecast begins on Wednesday, the 6th. You can vote again at the start of each new round, so be sure to vote for me in round 2 this Wednesday.
In case you haven't heard I need your help! If you've ever appreciated my poetry, podcast, teaching, scholarship, or ramblings, please take a few minutes out of your day and help me out. There's a website called Famecast.com that's sponsoring a performance poetry competition. The top five vote
getters will be FLOWN to the National Poetry Slam in Austin and compete for a $10,000 prize. More than anything else, I want to win a free trip to the National Poetry Slam. This can happen if you help me
out. Voting is simple, free, and utterly meaningful to me. To vote for me, register at famecast.com (free and under one minute), go to the "Spoken Word" stage, find "Ragan Fox," and vote for me. I've been on this site for a month and they don't spam, so don't worry about the registration mumbo jumbo. Thanks in advance for your love and support. FYI, there are three rounds of competition; you can vote
once each round. I'll send out reminder emails in the following two rounds. I'll NEVER be Whitney Houston without your help.
Best,
Ragan

Sun, 26 November 2006 Hey All,
Thanks for the emails and love. FatC is temporarily on hold. I don't have the energy to come up with bits and entertain. I want to continue ranting but I don't want to be constrained by expectations. In the spirit of expectationless ranting, I've set up an audio blog that can be found at:
http://raganomics.podshow.com/
Don't expect Fox and the City. It's an audio blog, not an audio sitcom and variety show. I don't know exactly what format I'm aiming for. I know that I want to feature background music that moves me. A number of film makers start with music and let song guide their writing. Maybe I'll go for something like that.
Love and miss you all. Special shout out to John and Mike who recently sent me a fantastic goodie package complete with Amy Sedaris' new book, a soy candle, and a toy for Bella.
xoxo,
Ragan

Fri, 28 July 2006 Hello,
I am happy to announce that Fox and the City was nominated for a People’s Choice Podcast Award. Specifically, the program was nominated for “Best GLBT Podcast. I am thrilled about the nomination for a number of reasons. First, iTunes continues to deny queer podcasters a category that makes it easy for listeners to find content relevant to the GLBTQ community. This attitude is echoed in the actions of PodCastAlley, who, to date and despite the support of several queer casters, has never featured a gay themed podcast or video cast. Some might argue that queer categories promote a form of segregation, something akin to “separate but equal. While I understand the logic behind this sentiment, I believe that podcasts serve a unique function in the gay community. Members of the GLBTQ rarely see or hear mass mediated depictions of gay life that come from members of the queer community. Gay voices made public on podcasts promote a sense of shared discernment among queer people, many of whom are invested in seeing themselves in the media. I am happy to see the People’s Choice Podcast Awards acknowledge the unique contributions of LGBTQ podcasters. It would, however, be insincere of me not to mention the notable absence of lesbians and transgendered people nominated in the GLBT category.
I am also tickled by the nomination because I’ve invested 100s of hours of work into making Fox and the City a consistently funny and thought provoking podcast. Many people have flippant attitudes about awards. I am not one of those people. Few people are paid to podcast. Most produce shows for the love of it. Recognition doesn’t hurt in a digital world where disconnection and displacement rule the day. I appreciate all the people who nominated the show and who plan to vote for it.
I encourage you to visit www.PodcastAwards.com and vote for Fox and the City (or, really, for whatever podcast you most enjoy in the GLBT category). You can vote once a day until August 11 but you may only vote once in a 24-hour period. After you submit your vote, you will be asked to check your mail and confirm by clicking on a link embedded in your email. If you have ever enjoyed listening to the show, I hope you will take the time to vote. I submitted a vote last night and it took me less than a minute.
One final note, new episodes of Fox and the City have been posted to FoxintheCity.Libsyn.com. You can also access the show via iTunes, where, despite the absence of a proper, gay friendly label, the program continues to be a featured comedy podcast.
Thanks,
Ragan “I Don’t Need Heath Ledger to Tell My Story Fox
